Emptiness Exhibition

The series of works called “             ” (Emptiness) were obtained from the process of learning and trying to understand the state of emptiness via reading and meditation. Every morning, the artist would meditate until he felt he could approach the emptiness. Then, he would move to his studio and transfer his experience through art in the form of shapes and texts.

For “              ” (Emptiness), instead of writing the exact word “emptiness”, the artist used the symbol “ ” with a space in-between, and used white letters which are invisible to the eyes to write down his name. This represents the abstract form of emptiness. The space refers to the non-self and freedom from identity. The origin of this work came from the belief that art is a process of understanding the truth(Emptiness), oneself, society and nature. The series of works were exhibited at Buddhadasa Indapanno Archives, Numthong Art Space and Nova Contemporary Gallery and Chan+Hori Contemporary. The work exhibited were paintings, drawing and sculptures.

For Jojo Kobe art gallery, this exhibition is the conclusion of the concepts of “              ” (Emptiness). From more than a thousand pieces of his drawing works, the artist chose only 10 pieces of work to make printmaking with Jojo Kobe Chiangmai printing studio. This exhibition is different from the previous ones as it’s exhibited with the Virtual Reality technique. The technique is provided by Chanon Satienpan who is an expert in making VR for famous artists and galleries. This presentation style goes well with the world’s present situation in which lots of people are prohibited to gather in the same place, due to Covid-19. Also in this case, the real space cannot be changed in accordance to the artist’s imagination.

Therefore, this technique can truly bring the audiences to the artist’s real world via Virtual Reality technique. And this series was presented through NFT (Non-fungible token) in collaboration with Mr. Watjansin Jaruwattanakitti and exhibition at Palette Artspace in Metaverse as well.
